John,
Right now, we are seeing two very different visions for the future of America and the world.
Last week, Congress approved giving $886 billion of our tax dollars to fund bombs, weapons, and war crimes. I voted against this massively wasteful budget for war and destruction, which was the largest military budget in the history of our country. This budget is impossible to justify when our neighbors are struggling to put food on the table, fighting to keep a roof over their heads, and rationing their medication.
My constituents sent me to Congress to invest in life and in everyday working people. Last week, I was proud to stand alongside United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain and other union leaders calling for a ceasefire now.
At the ceasefire rally, UAW President Shawn Fain said:
“The world has seen enough slaughter and devastation. Peace is the only path forward… As union members, we know we must fight for all workers and suffering people around the world. We must fight for humanity.”
My Yaba (dad) was a UAW member and I wish he was alive today to see his union stand up and courageously say: Ceasefire now!
But even as our movement demanding a ceasefire grows, Congress continues to fund more bombs and more senseless killing.
Why aren’t over 18,000 Palestinians killed enough for my colleagues to say the words, ‘Ceasefire now’? Why aren’t over 7,000 children killed enough for my colleagues to call for a lasting ceasefire for an end to this war?
Donate today to power our ceasefire movement, as we raise our collective voice saying: “We choose life over death.”

Thanks to you, our movement is growing.
Together, we will keep demanding not only a ceasefire, but also an end to the blockade on Gaza, an end to the dehumanizing system of apartheid, and the return of all hostages and those arbitrarily detained. We will keep pushing back against oppression here and abroad, and advocating for human rights and freedom for all people around the world.
In solidarity,
Rashida
