Dear John, As Washington D.C. slowly shifts its focus to the campaign trail, the United States continues to face unprecedented levels of migration — and millions of asylum seekers remain stuck in limbo, part of a growing humanitarian crisis.
Despite the challenges ahead, the American Immigration Council’s policy and advocacy teams are confident that we will continue to make a real difference in 2024. And thanks to the Council’s comprehensive approach, we are well positioned to push for meaningful change from D.C. to Des Moines, Florida to Oregon, and a multitude of points in between.
Even in the most trying of political times, the Council has continued to make progress toward a more just immigration system and welcoming country, in Democrat- and Republican-led states alike.
John, we need your support to continue our critical work in 2024 — please donate now to help us reach our ambitious $130,000 goal by December 31 and your gift will be DOUBLED by a group of generous donors. |
With Council staff working directly with congressional offices, coalitions of business leaders and state policymakers, civic leaders, and more — we are working across all 50 states to address the problems that face our immigrant communities.
Please, make your year-end gift to the American Immigration Council today — and your donation will go TWICE as far toward supporting our comprehensive approach to fighting for immigrants’ rights.
Thanks to supporters like you, this past year our advocacy and policy teams have:
- Created and advocated for a concrete roadmap toward a more just immigration system through our groundbreaking publication, "Beyond a Border Solution," which outlines 13 solutions for a flexible, orderly, and durable asylum system.
-
Helped pass 12 new state-level laws to foster an inclusive environment for immigrants and refugees, and supported another 15 forward through written testimony, letters of support, and equipping local advocates on the ground with data and best practices.
-
Welcomed 2 new members to our Offices of New Americans (ONA) State network — which now supports members from 19 Democrat- and Republican-led states with a dedicated office or senior policy person tasked with facilitating the economic and civic integration of immigrant and refugee residents, including the newest arrivals.
-
Launched the fifth cohort of the Gateways for Growth Challenge, helping 10 local communities — including Baltimore County, MD; Santa Fe, NM; and Fort Wayne, IN — work toward the creation of community-wide plans to leverage the skills and contributions of all residents.
-
Called on Congress to reduce the waiting period for asylum seekers to access work authorization via a business-led letter with over 100 signatories, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Retail Federation, and National Restaurant Association, in partnership with AILA.
Our achievements show that as politicians continue to demonize immigrants on the election trail and in the media, real bi-partisan progress continues across the country.
The challenges of an election year are real for our work to build a more just immigration system and welcoming nation — but with your support we will continue our progress in 2024.
Please donate now, while your gift will go to TWICE as far to support our critical, on-the-ground and across-the-country advocacy work. |
In gratitude, Jeremy Robbins Executive Director |
