Friend, did you know that conversion “therapy” is still a pressing issue in the United States? As a valued supporter of The Trevor Project, we wanted to share with you some crucial insights from our newest report, It’s Still Happening, which documents the prevalence of practitioners of conversion “therapy” across the U.S. Our report reveals a troubling reality: conversion “therapy” is still an alarmingly widespread issue, emphasizing the urgent need for change.
- We identified more than 1,320 active conversion “therapy” practitioners across 48 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. This includes 600+ who hold active professional licenses and 700+ who operate in a ministerial or religious capacity.
- Over the last year alone, our trained crisis counselors have handled over 1,200 conversations with young people from across more than 500 cities and towns on our 24/7 crisis lines who have raised conversion "therapy" as a concern for why they are reaching out to us.
The findings of our report shatter misconceptions that conversion “therapy” is a relic of the past, or that it doesn’t happen in certain parts of the U.S. Our report finds that it’s still happening.
