Dear Friends,

Thank you for supporting Stop Handgun Violence!

In July, Boston Globe published my Op-Ed calling for a federal ban on Assault Weapons. It was very well-received by the public and elected officials, and garnered several poignant letters to the editor from Boston Globe readers.

A blocked vote on the Assault Weapons Ban bill in the Senate last week was to be expected. But we are encouraged by President Biden's executive action to create the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which we have been calling for over the years.

The Newsletter

This is very encouraging news for grassroots organizations like Stop Handgun Violence who have been actively engaged with the White House on legislative strategies and our proven model of gun safety state regulations that have effectively helped reduce the rate of gun deaths in the Commonwealth by 40% since we started in 1994.

Plus, we have recently initiated conversations with the White House Office of GVP and shared talking points on the MA Gun Violence Reduction and Prevention Model.

John at the MA statehouse testified to support gun safety bills.

At a time when the leading cause of death for children in America is gun violence, our national leadership and replicating our proven and effective gun violence prevention laws and regulations are more important than ever. Thanks to your past support, our consistent leadership, advocacy and effective messaging have been crucial to saving lives and maintaining our State as the safest in the nation with respect to gun violence prevention.

Please help us continue to save lives from preventable gun violence and please donate today. Thank you again for your consideration and support!

Best regards,

WE NEED YOUR HELP.
PLEASE DONATE TODAY!

We advocate for common sense gun laws and regulations. Since 1994 we have reduced the rate of gun deaths in MA by 40%. We have proven that gun laws save lives and have made MA the state with the lowest gun death rate in the Nation. If every state had the same low gun death rate as MA, over half of all gun deaths in the US could be prevented.
