As we approach the new year, the shadows of gun violence still linger. Communities across the nation mourned countless lives lost, parents embraced empty chairs at dinner tables, and children hid under desks in fear. Yet, amidst the heartbreak, a spark of hope ignited.
This year, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, alongside countless advocates like you, achieved critical victories:

Assault Weapons Ban: We helped pass a ban on the sale and possession of assault weapons, the deadliest firearms on the market, making Washington the 10th state to ban the sale of these military-grade firearms across all of our communities.

10-Day Waiting Period: We enacted a 10-day waiting period for all firearm purchases, giving families more time to consider the safety implications of gun ownership.

Holding Gun Industry Accountable: We created a pathway for victims of gun violence to sue gun dealers and manufacturers for their role in fueling the gun violence crisis.

Investing in Prevention: We secured $30 million in funding for critical gun violence prevention programs, including education, intervention, and support for communities disproportionately impacted by gun violence.

These are just a few of the many victories we achieved in the 2023 legislative session. Thanks to your support, we are making progress in building a safer future for everyone in Washington.
But our work is far from over. Gun violence remains a daily threat, claiming lives and shattering families. In 2024, we must raise our voices louder, build a stronger movement, and secure even bolder advancements.
