John, it’s Mel Evans, UK Climate Team Leader here at Greenpeace.

Our Fundraising Director recently wrote to you about our financial situation – and how we urgently need your help to fund our 2024 campaigns. We’ve had 143 amazing people already chip in, but we’re still critically short of our target – and need 956 more people to sign up to support us: [link removed]

There’s a reason next year’s funding is so important. We’ve got an election coming up and we can’t let this opportunity pass us by.

Since our last election, everything has changed. We’ve had a pandemic, a cost-of-living crisis, and a government who are more concerned with culture wars than the climate catastrophe. Our politicians have seen the science. They know what’s needed to save our planet. They just won’t do it.

But we’ve got the chance to turn this around. Next year, we’ll have a general election that decides the future of this country and the future of our planet. It’s our best shot at getting a government that takes the climate emergency seriously.

Will you be one of the 956 people and donate a small monthly gift to help secure a greener future? Just £3 a month could help us push our leaders for bolder climate commitments.

There’s no time for empty promises – we need action. That’s why we’ve launched Project Climate Vote: [link removed] a campaign to unite a million people across the UK to vote with climate in mind at the next election. Together, we have the power to push for real change – and to hold our politicians accountable once they’re in office.

Let’s be clear, this isn’t just about the planet. A vote for the climate is also a vote for cheaper bills, better health, and a brighter future for all of us. It’s something we can all get behind.

But it’s going to take a lot of work. Groups of volunteers will be holding hundreds of events and knocking on tens of thousands of doors up and down the country, talking to the whole nation about becoming Climate Voters.

And we need people like you to help make this happen. We don’t take any money from the government – our funding comes from supporters like you, giving monthly donations to keep our work going. Could you please set up a small monthly gift and help us get climate on the agenda?

The more supporters we have, the more people we can reach – and the better chance we have of securing a cleaner, fairer future:

John, let’s make 2024 a year of change. Let’s push for a race to the top on climate from all political parties, and a new government that takes bold, decisive actions after years of empty promises and U-turns. It’s not a pipe dream – it’s a choice we can make at the ballot box.

And we’re counting on you to help keep up the pressure.

Mel Evans,

UK Climate Team Leader, Greenpeace

P.S. It takes just 2 minutes to set up your monthly gift, and every pound makes a huge difference: [link removed] Will you chip in so that we can put our strongest foot forward going into this election year?
