By now, you've heard the news.

Last week, the Texas Supreme Court ruled that Kate Cox didn't qualify for an exemption outlined in a Texas law banning abortion, despite serious health risks. Kate was forced to leave her home state to receive necessary care for a non-viable pregnancy.

My heart goes out to Kate and any woman in this situation. It's outrageous and unacceptable. A woman's health care decisions should be made by her, her family, and her doctor - not by judges and politicians.

Kate's story is another tragic example of why we must fight harder than ever to protect reproductive freedom in our country. Every day, we witness right-wing extremists intensifying their efforts to impose dangerous abortion bans, often disregarding the will of their constituents.

In 2022, Michigan set a powerful precedent by passing a historic ballot initiative to secure reproductive freedom in our constitution. This victory must be extended to women in every state, and I am confident that together, we can make this a reality at the federal level.

But to do this, we need your help.
