This Christmas, will you give elephants a safe future?

YOUR GIFT COULD HELP SAVE BABY ELEPHANTS LIKE SAVANNAH

Dear John,

We’d like to introduce you to Savannah. He was only a few months old and about one metre tall (barely as high as your waist), when he fell into a waterhole created for livestock here in eastern Kenya.

His mother frantically tried to help her terrified baby, but to no avail – the waterhole sides were too steep. Thankfully, Savannah was spotted by our friends at Kenya Wildlife Service, who contacted Born Free, and we dashed to the scene.

Will you help to keep elephants safe this Christmas?

HELP ELEPHANTS NOW

When our Saving Meru's Giants team - devoted to protecting elephants and giraffes - arrived, we suspected he had spent the whole night there. The waterhole was treacherous, and it was extremely difficult but, after a big team effort and using ropes, we managed to get Savannah out.

Despite his long ordeal, Savannah was in surprisingly good condition – though dehydrated and ravenously hungry. After his joyful reunion with his mother, our team was delighted to see him happily suckling, to make up for a long night without feeding.

We need your help to continue saving elephants like Savannah.

PLEASE DONATE TODAY

Savannah now has a second chance of life, but his story could so easily have ended in tragedy. Sadly, every day, elephants are caught in snares or killed by poachers for their tusks. Could you help save elephants like Savannah? Your gift today could support elephant care and conservation, and make a JUMBO difference!

Your gift today could:

~ Rescue individual elephants like Savannah

~ Remove deadly snares set illegally by poachers

~ Help wild elephants and local people peacefully co-exist

~ Protect wild elephants and fight to end the ivory trade

GIVE A GIFT

Every single elephant matters to Born Free and we’re so grateful you feel the same way! With your incredible support, we will do everything we can to keep elephants safe in the wild, where they belong.

With thanks,

Irene Kanga
