WIN | WILL Statement on WI Supreme Court’s School Choice Decision

WILL released a statement after the Wisconsin Supreme Court denied an original action petition seeking to end Wisconsin’s widely popular and successful school choice programs.

🗯 WILL President and General Counsel, Rick Esenberg, stated, “Wisconsin’s parental choice programs have been instrumental in providing educational freedom and better academic outcomes to thousands of Wisconsin families. The now-denied petition filed with the Wisconsin Supreme Court was plagued with misleading, misinformed, and nonsensical legal arguments. The unanimous Court was right to reject the case. If choice opponents try again, WILL stands ready to defend these critical programs for Wisconsin children and their families.”

WIN | WILL and MSLF Secure Legal Victory for Student Group at UW-La Crosse

WILL and the Mountain States Legal Foundation (MSLF) secured a legal victory for a conservative group, Young America’s Foundation (YAF), a student organization that was denied student-organization status by University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The school originally denied the group’s designation because the student organization rightfully refused to sign onto a “DEI” inclusivity statement that opposed the organizations values and violated their First Amendment Rights. UW-La Crosse only backed down after WILL and MSLF threatened legal action on behalf of YAF.

🗯 Dan Lennington, WILL Deputy Counsel stated, “This is a victory for free speech and equality. WILL stands ready to defend the Constitutional rights of every Wisconsinite. Period. We applaud the students at UW-La Crosse for standing up for themselves and setting a great example for others to follow. On the other hand, it's time for academia to ditch the woke nonsense."

STATEMENT | Second UW Regent Vote to Reduce Discriminatory “DEI” Programs

We released a statement following the UW Regents vote to approve new parameters for DEI programs following a potential compromise proposed by Speaker Robin Vos and Assembly Republicans!

🗯 Rick Esenberg, WILL President and General Counsel stated, “We applaud the UW Regent’s vote to reduce taxpayer-funded discrimination through DEI at the University of Wisconsin System. The U.S. Constitution allows no compromise on the rule of equality and UW policies must be colorblind. Much DEI training promotes a racialized view of the world which we have struggled to overcome. We will continue to work towards that goal. This is an important start.”

IN THE NEWS | Equality Under the Law Efforts Recognized

The Washington Post recently highlighted our Equality Under the Law Project and our challenges to Biden's illegal race agenda via a minority-only agency, discrimination against road builders, farmers, & restaurants.

Here are some excepts from the article: “'They are all interested in finding new ways to grow their business and would value the advice, grants, consulting services, access to programs, and other benefits offered... the lawsuit states. 'But that agency won’t help them because of their race....”

"[The] program is among the government’s largest — and perhaps oldest — affirmative action programs. But in light of the Supreme Court’s June decision on college admissions, the 'DBE program must end,'”
