Hi John,
I hope this message finds you well amid the rapid changes to our state and world. As the state works to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Maine, we know our lives and communities will be disrupted in ways we have never seen before.
I'm not writing to urge you to take action today or ask for your support. During this time of uncertainty, I wanted to say that we're in this together - as families, as communities, and as Mainers.
Governor Mills said in her address this evening, “Together we will get through this. Time and again, Maine people have risen to the challenges in front of us...We have conquered those challenges because we are a strong, resilient people, born of the Western Foothills and the northern potato fields, the bold rocky coasts and the tall pine forests. We’ve been lifted up by the courage, conviction and resilience that comes from loving a place like this and all its people.”
Maine Conservation Voters remains committed to protecting the natural resources that sustain us, even as we reshuffle our priorities and work to protect the health and safety of our families and communities. We'll continue our work for climate action and reductions in carbon pollution, protections for our state's clean air and water, accountability of our lawmakers for their voting records on the environment, and our campaigns to elect more conservation champions across Maine.
Although the legislature is adjourning indefinitely and our upcoming in-person events will have to be postponed or cancelled, we are working on creative ways to engage with you and our lawmakers on the important issues that we all care so deeply about. If you have interesting or innovative ways to continue our fight during this time, please don't hesitate to email me and share your ideas.
I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy, and I look forward to connecting with you again soon.
All my best,
Executive Director
