The Senate just confirmed former Governor Martin O’Malley as the new commissioner of the Social Security Administration!

This is great news for our Social Security system. There has only been a Senate-confirmed SSA Commissioner appointed by a Democratic President for 8 of the last 40 years.¹

This is only possible because Social Security Works members put pressure on President Biden to fire Donald Trump’s cronies at SSA. We delivered hundreds of thousands of signatures, and Joe Biden listened.

Martin O’Malley is a longtime champion of Social Security², and is dedicated to delivering the first-class customer service that Americans have earned. After this bipartisan confirmation vote, he will be well-positioned to demand Congress fully fund SSA after over a decade of underfunding.³
