Dear John,

Tomorrow, I’ll join with 80 leaders from around the country on Capitol Hill to make sure Congress and the Biden Administration are hearing that we are calling on them to act for peace. I am proud to continue the legacy of Minnesotans standing for peace in the United States and across the globe. From Humphrey and Wellstone to Ellison, McCollum and Omar - we have sent representatives to Washington, D.C. to champion human rights, human dignity and peaceful diplomacy.

At TakeAction Minnesota, we believe in a world where every single person has what they need to live full, happy, healthy, and safe lives. We organize with our neighbors here in Minnesota to win a joyful future for all of us: from Red Lake to Red Wing, from Minnesota to the southern border, from the United States to the Middle East. We know we can win peace by acting together. That’s why tens of thousands of Minnesotans across race, religion and geography have taken action in the past two months calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

Right now, decision makers in D.C. are considering a deadly deal that only delivers more pain, more suffering, and more death in a world already drowning in them. If passed, the Senate amendment to H.R. 815 would send billions in no-strings-attached money to fuel Israel’s war on innocent Palestinians and further militarize the southern border. We can and must choose a different way.

Act now and send an updated message to our Congressional Delegation. They need to hear from us and know that we are counting on them to deliver on our values.

I am proud to link arms with civic leaders from across the United States to call for a better, smarter path forward. The United States has a moral responsibility to use our considerable power, and our taxpayer dollars, towards building a better world for our children, grandchildren and future generations. The first step toward achieving a just and lasting peace is a permanent ceasefire, an end to military aid fueling violence, humane and inclusive immigration policies, and abundant humanitarian aid.

Act with us. Our leaders need to hear how clear we are: our public resources should be used to protect life – not promote violence.
