We here at Shift Washington want to wish you and your family a very Merry
Christmas and joyous holiday season!
Unfortunately, as in so many recent
years, we know it’s been a tough one for many families across Washington state. Inflation remains a problem. And, on top of high prices for
basic services, the many new taxes imposed by Democrats in Olympia appear intent on making life more difficult – and far more expensive –
for everyday families.
If there’s one political lesson Democrats
should have learned from 2023, it’s that their policies are destructive and highly unpopular. Unfortunately, Democrats rarely engage in
introspective thoughts. They are moving full speed ahead on enforcing their extreme measures. Here are a few examples:
- The Democrat carbon tax has left working families struggling to cover basic living expenses, from
the cost of they pay at the pump to the cost of heating their homes, to their everyday groceries.
- The
Democrats’ long-term care tax promises to take even more money out of workers’ paychecks, with little-to-no benefit in return.
- The Democrats’ unconstitutional state income tax, starting with capital gains, is so sketchy that the U.S
Supreme Court has it under review.
- Finally, the Democrats’ soft-on-crime policies – like
their ban on police pursuits – have effectively blocked law enforcement officers from doing their job, causing rising crime rates.
It’s these policies that require naming Washington’s legislative Democrats
as this year’s Christmas Grinch.
