The University of Center on Developmental Disabilities (KUCDD) has a Kansas Employment First Training and Technical Specialist position open. Here is a brief description.?

KU Center on Developmental Disabilities (KUCDD) is seeking an Education Program Coordinator who will serve as an Employment First Training and Technical Assistance Specialist to support funded projects focused on increasing capacity for providing supported employment services leading to long term systems change in Kansas. This position will deliver training and technical assistance focused on best practices for enhancing competitive, integrated employment outcomes for people with disabilities in Kansas.? The Kansas Employment First Training and Technical Assistance Specialist will be trained to deliver training and technical assistance, which will include but not be limited to:

  • Supporting providers to develop a business plan for providing Supported Employment Services
  • Training staff in effective practices to engage job seekers to explore career interests and strengths
  • Training staff to work with employers to create employment pathways and opportunities
  • Providing information to job seekers who use communication devices
  • Working with Benefits Specialists to ensure providers and staff have information needed to dispel myths about benefits and working.?

The ideal candidate will have a background in supporting people with disabilities, experience in providing supports and services that lead to competitive, integrated employment outcomes, be highly reliable in a fast-paced office environment with a close attention to detail, be adept at problem solving, have training experience, and have a degree in education (including special education), psychology (including clinical psychology), health and social sciences, disability studies, or a related area.
