Hi John,

Our team and I wanted to take a moment before we go on holiday break and let you know all how grateful we are to be in this fight with you and send some important financial support resources.

I’ve been doing so much reflecting these last weeks of the year, and I am so proud of this people-powered movement. The work we are doing is helping dismantle some of the most engrained discrimination stemming back from reconstruction and Jim Crow. We know that excluding house cleaners, nannies, child care workers, and home care workers from federal labor protections was intentional. Racists did this to keep Black and brown and immigrant workers and families from living with dignity and having true economic power.

While the holidays are a time of joy (and we know our communities know how to have fun!), the winter months following the holidays can be the hardest financial moments for families. And that struggle is connected to the Jim Crow-era systemic racism which then caused the de facto generational poverty our communities experience today.

So, we wanted to put together a list of resources you or someone you know and love can have handy if support is needed.

Care in Action has partnered with WorkMoney [[link removed]] , an organization that brings together experts who help consumers save money on everyday expenses like bills.

If you need support with utilities, food, lowering debt, housing, family care and more, visit WorkMoney's website, type in your zip code, and see what resources may be available in your community:

WorkMoney and Care in Action are helping people who may be qualified receive $30 off your internet bill every month due to federal funding secured by the Biden-Harris administration. You can find more information in both English [[link removed]] and Spanish. [[link removed]]

Finally, if you know a house cleaner or nanny, or someone who needs to hire a house cleaner or nanny, the Department of Labor provides sample contracts. This is the first time in our nation’s history that the federal government has provided this important tool for domestic workers and employers.

Use these contract examples to help create an employment agreement:

We hope these resources will be useful for you or someone you know. And just know, we are so close to closing another door from the Jim Crow era. So let’s rest and bring the fight even harder next year.

With so much love and gratitude,

Hillary Holley
