Dear Friend --

Every year, the 9 nuclear-armed states spend an unimaginable amount of money on their nuclear weapons, and - shamefully - the U.S. is the largest culprit! The $43.7 billion spent by the U.S. on nuclear weapons last year means that, every minute, $83,143 was diverted from healthcare, housing, and other needs in our country! Can you imagine what we could do with that money instead?

Share your ideas: where would you spend $43.7 billion?

Next year, ICAN is planning a global week of action in response to this ridiculous nuclear spending, and we’d love to hear what you would prefer your tax money be spent on. We will use your answers as we create materials for the week of action.

For example, personally, as a U.S. citizen, tax-payer, musician, lawyer, professor, and the United Nations Liaison for ICAN, I would prefer that $43.7 billion to be spent instead on access to medical care and housing, improving infrastructure and mass transit, and transitioning our economies away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.

Where would you prefer to see this money spent? Tell us!

We are also still raising funds for the week of action. We are getting there, and we have the first $2,000 of our $50,000 goal. Will you please pitch in to make it happen?

If you would like to sign up to be more involved in the lead up to the week of action, you can do so here.

Thank you for all you do to help end nuclear weapons
