Friend,
Apparently, there’s a war on whole milk in this country. And last Wednesday, Republicans sounded the alarm.
This war is so ferocious and so damaging that our top priority, in the final moments of 2023’s Congressional session, was passing legislation to end the war.
While these Congressmembers made their urgent arguments about the need to meet children’s nutritional needs with whole milk – they completely ignored and excluded the 1 in 10 kids who are unable to process lactose, the majority of whom are kids of color.
But, as it always goes with Republicans, the fuel for this debate was never children's nutrition; it was their own view of who matters in this country and who does not. Oh, and the money the Milk Lobby pours into these Congressmembers' campaign accounts.
No matter the topic, Republicans are only interested in legislation that is financially beneficial to them and that completely ignores the millions of people who don’t fit into their ideal vision of this country. Their “war on milk” is another footnote in their history of fearmongering.
I don’t know how many more times I can say this: I’ve had enough. It isn’t about milk – it is about power. And I am sick and tired of the Republican party continuously trying to assert power over the good people of this country.
