Governor Ron DeSantis unveiled his 2024 budget earlier this month and unsurprisingly his proposal fails to meet the needs of Floridians. Rather than addressing our state’s most pressing issues, DeSantis is using his latest budget to score political points with Republicans in Iowa and New Hampshire. 

One particularly GLARING omission from the budget is any plan for Medicaid expansion. Nearly a million hard-working Floridians, many of whom are one emergency room trip away from bankruptcy, would receive essential healthcare services under expanded Medicaid.

The people of House District 22 deserve real solutions to the rising cost of healthcare, the collapse of the homeowners’ insurance market, and the gun violence plaguing our streets - not more political games and culture wars.
