“This is not about the people themselves. I am a Bible-believing Christian. Someone asked me today in the media, they said, ‘… People are curious. What does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun?’ I said, well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it – that’s my worldview. That’s what I believe and so I make no apologies for it.” Speaker of the U.S. House, Mike Johnson “I’m tired of this separation of church and state junk that’s not in the Constitution.” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) “When you have a president who’s willing to go to war with the rule of law, to ignore the rulings of the courts if he doesn’t agree with them, that has the potential to unravel everything.” Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), talking to Rachel Maddow about Donald Trump

Do we have your attention yet?

As we approach the end of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the challenges and triumphs we've faced as advocates for a secular government. In a year marked by unprecedented events, your support has been the driving force behind our efforts to safeguard the separation of church and state.

In the face of growing influence from those who would seek to intertwine religious beliefs with legislative decisions, the Secular Coalition for America remains steadfast in our commitment to promoting reason, science, and the protection of individual freedoms. Our mission gains even greater significance as we navigate the unique challenges posed by a Speaker of the House who identifies as a Christian Nationalist.

The advocacy landscape has become increasingly complex, but your unwavering commitment to secular values has enabled us to stand strong in defense of a government that represents the diverse beliefs of all its citizens. This year, we've made significant strides in promoting inclusivity, diversity, and the importance of evidence-based policy-making.

However, the fight is far from over.

As we look ahead to the coming year, we anticipate even greater challenges in maintaining the secular character of our government. Your support is crucial in ensuring that we can continue our efforts to counteract the influence of Christian Nationalism and protect the principles that form the bedrock of a just and equitable society.

Here's how your donation can make a difference:

1. Advancing Secular Policy: We've made tremendous strides in advocating for policies that protect the rights and values of secular Americans. From defending the Johnson Amendment to opposing religious exemptions that threaten healthcare access, we've been at the forefront of secular policy advocacy. Our 2023 Lobby Day was very successful, 2555and we are planning our 2024 Lobby Day already (mark March 5 on your calendar.)

2. Secular Representation: We've been working diligently to ensure that secular voices are heard at all levels of government. Our outreach and lobbying efforts have resulted in more elected officials taking a stand for secularism and representing your interests.

3. Community Building: SCA has continued to foster a sense of community among secular individuals and organizations across the country. We've expanded our outreach and support for local secular groups, creating a stronger and more connected secular movement. We added the Association of Secular Elected Officials to the Coalition.

4. Education and Outreach: Our commitment to educating the public about secularism, religious freedom, and the importance of church-state separation remains unwavering.

In this season of giving, we invite you to join us in our mission to protect the secular principles that make our nation great. Your generosity can be the difference between a government that upholds the rights of all citizens and one that caters to a narrow interpretation of religious values.

Make a donation ([link removed]) today and help us secure a future where reason, science, and individual freedoms thrive. Together, we can ensure that our government remains a true representation of the diverse and pluralistic society we cherish.

Thank you for your ongoing support. It is greatly appreciated.

Happiest of holiday seasons and new year,

Steven Emmert, Executive Director
