Special Session Recap

Last week, the Georgia General Assembly wrapped up its Special Session which was primarily convened to address the redrawing of legislative maps, thrown out by an Obama-appointed federal judge. Here's a recap of the critical actions taken during Special Session:

Redistricting:
Despite predictions of a significant shift towards Democrats, the partisan balance in Georgia will largely remain unchanged, keeping the Republican-to-Democrat ratio largely unchanged. In the State House, Republicans are expected to lose only a few seats but will maintain their majority in the Senate. This outcome is critical as it suggests a continuity in the political landscape of Georgia, contrary to earlier forecasts.

Other Legislative Actions:
House Resolution 3EX: Ratifies Governor Kemp’s executive orders to suspend motor and diesel fuel taxes.
House Resolution 4EX: Condemns Hamas terrorism and expresses support for the Jewish community.
House Resolution 6EX: Honors the legacy of Former First Lady, Rosalynn Carter.
Tax Proposal Announcement: Governor Kemp proposed accelerating the decrease in the state's individual income tax rate, potentially saving Georgia taxpayers approximately $1.1 billion in 2024.

The Frontline Team was at the Capitol all throughout Special Session. Our Strategy team met with our legislative allies to talk through and advance our 2024 agenda, while Church Ambassador Network facilitated impactful meetings between local pastors and legislators, empowering them, praying over them, and reminding them of the significant role they play in upholding a biblical standard through policy.

Our Joyful Christmas Open House & Fundraiser

In case you missed it, our Christmas Open House & Fundraiser was an incredible evening filled with warmth, great food, and fellowship!

We were thrilled to open the doors of our brand-new office space to our friends, allies, and neighbors, offering a firsthand look at our mission in action.

Special guests, Rep. Josh Bonner and Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson shared inspiring words and their support of what Frontline is doing for the pro-life, pro-family mission.

Together, we raised our voices to "O Come All Ye Faithful" and shared great food and meaningful fellowship.

While we cherished the memories made that night, it's not too late to be part of our vision for 2024, as any support ensures we can tackle our boldest legislative agenda yet next year.

Supreme Court to Hear ADF-Led Challenge Against FDA's Approval of Abortion Pill

In 2024, the Supreme Court is set to review the availability of Mifepristone, an abortion pill, marking a pivotal moment in the fight for unborn lives since the historic overturning of Roe v. Wade.

This case represents an opportunity to reinstate much-needed safeguards against the unregulated use of abortion-inducing drugs, marking a huge step towards protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that the FDA's two-decade-old approval of Mifepristone is scrutinized under the lens of what science tells us – that life begins at the moment of conception.

Our friends and allies at Alliance Defending Freedom are leading the charge in challenging the FDA's authority over this drug, showcasing their commitment to pro-life advocates to uphold the dignity of every human life.

With the potential ruling to restrict access to Mifepristone, even in states where abortion remains legal, there's a renewed hope for a future where the rights of the unborn are defended and abortion-on-demand is halted, reinforcing a culture that values and protects life at every stage.

Exciting Victory for Life

In an unprecedented victory for life, the post-Dobbs era has witnessed a significant reduction in abortion facilities, marking a milestone in the fight for the unborn.

According to a report by the Abortion Care Network, 65 abortion centers have shut down in the last two years, including 49 in 2023 alone, following the pivotal Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.

This remarkable decrease has not only saved thousands of lives but also transformed numerous communities into abortion-free zones. With 14 states now proudly standing as abortion-free, the landscape for protecting the unborn has drastically improved.

As we celebrate these milestones, our commitment to protecting the vulnerable must persist, especially against the increasing use of abortion-inducing drugs as mentioned earlier. Let's continue our efforts and prayers, recognizing the profound impact that these developments have in shifting our culture toward a world where abortion is unthinkable.

Our New General Counsel is Already Influencing National Policy for Frontline

Chelsea Thompson, who you may remember recently joined our team full-time less than two weeks ago, has already begun to shape national policy discussions on behalf of Frontline.

At the recent "Life After Roe: Policies to Move Your State Forward" session, hosted by Family Policy Alliance, Chelsea represented Frontline alongside esteemed colleagues from Kansas Family Voice and Arkansas Family Council. She brought forth insightful pro-life policies and strategies that Georgia has implemented to protect unborn babies and their mothers.

The session, which featured a range of policy ideas from various states, was a testament to Chelsea's ability to engage in meaningful and impactful policy dialogues at a national level. For those interested, the full recording of the session is available on the FPF training website HERE.

We look forward to the continued positive impact Chelsea will have in her role and in broader policy arenas. Stay tuned for more updates on her work and contributions!
