Popular Democratic Governor Steve Bullock just announced that he will run
for U.S. Senate in Montana, suddenly putting a whole new state on the map
in the Democrats' attempt to end Republican control of the Senate.

This is an absolute game-changer.



A large part of MoveOn's 2020 elections plan is to rip the gavel from
Mitch McConnell's hands and end GOP control of the Senate, but until now,
we had no plans to run a campaign in Montana, so we're launching an
emergency fundraising effort to make sure we have the resources to take on
this race without taking anything away from beating Donald Trump or GOP
senators in key states. Will you donate $3?

Here's why this news is so huge: Democrats need to flip three Senate seats
to gain control of the Senate and dump McConnell as majority leader. There
are two states that Trump lost where Republican senators are up for
re-election: Maine and Colorado.

But to win state number three, we need to win a Trump state—and no one has
a better record of winning elections in a Trump state than Bullock.

However, Bullock's announcement presents a challenge: Montana is not one
of the key battleground states in the presidential election, and we had no
plans to put resources there in 2020. Now, we need to add Montana to our
campaign plan, and we absolutely cannot pull any resources out of the
states that will decide the presidential election.

We don't have much time to make a decision about whether to start building
up in Montana. If we're going to do it, we need to start hiring, doing
research, and organizing MoveOn members on the ground.

So we need to know right now whether MoveOn members are willing to step
up.

We are launching an emergency fundraising push to raise $500,000 to make
sure we have the resources to go big in Montana, as well as in all of the
other states that will decide the 2020 elections. Will you chip in?

key presidential swing states.



Ending GOP control of the Senate will not be easy. There are only a
handful of competitive races, and we're going up against entrenched
incumbents, like Senator Susan Collins in Maine.

But until now, Montana was on no one's priority list, and it might be one
of our very best opportunities to end GOP control of the Senate.

Let's be clear: Even if we win the presidency, important legislation will
still die in the Senate if we don't also take back the Senate from Mitch
McConnell. Will you donate?
