Friend,

I was outraged – but sadly not shocked – when this update came across my phone:

Today, almost exactly halfway into my first term in office, I’m doubling down on that commitment.

I want to make sure to hear from as many of you as possible. That’s why today, I’m asking you to fill out our priorities survey to let me know your thoughts heading into 2024.

There are going to be extremely close races in this district and nationally, with tremendous impact on the fate of our country. Stopping the worst extremism can only happen if we hold this seat and help Democrats keep a chamber in 2024.

What you share with us will have an impact on our plans for next year. We're hoping to get lots of responses because the more people that weigh in, the better we can understand what's on people’s minds across IL-17 and America.

I want to make time to hear from you. Please fill out my quick survey letting me know your biggest priorities as we head into the new session of Congress.

Since the end of Roe v. Wade, individuals seeking abortion care in states with bans or restrictions have often turned to places like Illinois to exercise their rights.

And anti-choice extremists have already been empowered by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and are trying like Hell to intimidate and harass women hoping to exercise their rights. This week we saw that horrifying abuse of power exercised in Texas against Kate Cox. Trying to trap women without recourse — even if it cost them their lives.

Not satisfied with the havoc they’ve wreaked, the right-wing majority on the court is going after mifepristone even in states that allow abortions — setting us on the path to a national abortion ban and a new dystopian landscape of laws.

Maintaining this seat is crucial to safeguarding our rights and freedoms, not just in Illinois but in keeping a check on this rogue court legislating from the bench.

Will you help me defend IL-17 and push back against the Supreme Court legislating from the bench by chipping in just  $5 today?

Protecting the right to an abortion and making sure all women have access to full reproductive care is a top priority. I want to ensure we can codify Roe v. Wade back into law, and I absolutely will not stand for any attempts to make these injustices any harder on women seeking to exercise a fundamental right.

The federal government and the courts have no business in your healthcare decisions. And I will never accept a country where women are forced to carry pregnancies against their will.

A blue Congress next cycle would go a long way toward checking the Supreme Court’s power. And the first step toward flipping the House blue is defending key swing districts like IL-17.

Will you pitch in $5 or any amount you can spare to ensure that IL-17 stays blue and Illinois remains a sanctuary for those seeking abortion care?

Thank you,

- Eric
