Voting to Open an Official Impeachment Inquiry into President Biden
During the past several months, investigations led by the House Committees on Ways & Means, Judiciary, and Oversight have produced findings strongly suggesting the involvement of President Joe Biden in his family's foreign business dealings. These credible allegations warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives, which is why I voted to open an official impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
Below are four key facts we know so far:
- President Biden repeatedly lied to the American people when he claimed he never discussed any business with his son, Hunter Biden.
- President Biden was a critical player in selling ‘the brand’ to Hunter’s foreign business partners and interacted with his son’s business associates 20 times, as Devon Archer, Hunter’s business partner, testified.
- The Biden family made millions of dollars as a result of Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings. Bank records show more than $24 million in payments were directed to Biden family members and associates through numerous shell companies.
- The Biden family has been offered special treatment by the Biden Administration – treatment they would not otherwise receive if they were not related to the President.
The vote to open an official impeachment inquiry does not determine an outcome but sets forth the process and provides the House with the legal standing to enable the full truth to come to light.
The American people deserve to know what President Biden knew about, or if he was involved in, any of his family's corrupt influence peddling schemes devised for their own financial gain.
Strengthening Our Military
This week, I helped deliver a strong Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization (NDAA) that boosts support for our servicemembers and their families, restores focus on our war-fighting capabilities, and ensures our military is better equipped to defend our nation today and in the future. It also reverses the Biden Administration's politicization of our national defense and rejects initiatives to infiltrate our military with woke ideology, such as having drag queens on base for entertainment.
The reality is the Biden Administration’s weak and tepid foreign policy is making the world a much more dangerous place with each passing day. The threats from Russia, China, and Iran continue to grow, and Congress has a fundamental duty to protect the security of the United States by enhancing our national defense.
This bill improves our readiness at home and abroad while being responsible stewards of taxpayer resources. However, this authorization legislation is just part of what is needed. Now, Congress must pass a Defense Appropriations Bill as soon as possible to fund these critical operations and support our men and women in uniform.
Denouncing Anti-Semitism
I hope this Hanukkah season brought strength and resilience to our friends in the Jewish community during these challenging times. As this Festival of Lights comes to an end, may we all continue to stand firmly against anti-Semitism around the world.
During a recent House Committee on Education and the Workforce hearing on the rampant anti-Semitism on college campuses across the country, presidents from Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania refused to consider calls for the genocide of Jews as violation of their school policy. The exchange was both telling and disgraceful. “Elite” colleges across the country, which receive federal tax dollars, must be held accountable for not only allowing anti-Semitism but in many cases encouraging it.
I proudly voted to strongly condemn ALL forms of anti-Semitism in our country and around the world.
