I recently wrote to you about a father named Omar facing a cold, cruel winter in Afghanistan. As the weather gets colder, time is running out to help people facing harsh conditions this Advent.
“Life has been tough with the droughts this year, ” says Omar. “Our garden is gone and all the fruit trees. We used to grow almonds but now those trees are as dry as the rest of the land. We must walk one hour to the nearest water source that is safe to drink from.”
Omar wants to keep his family safe and warm through the winter. But the drought and economic crisis have made it impossible for families like his to save for the supplies they need to survive the winter, despite their best efforts.
