Team -
The Supreme Court just agreed to review the federal ban on bump stocks. Let us explain why this is a big deal.
Bump stocks are a device that turns a semi-automatic weapon into a machine gun - something that’s been banned since 1934.
A semi-automatic weapon fires one shot for every trigger pulled.
An automatic weapon fires continually until the trigger is released.
Attaching a bump stock effectively allows people to bypass the ban on automatic weapons and fire more shots with just one trigger.
Bump stocks were used during the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, which killed 58 people and wounded hundreds more. In response, bump stocks were rightfully reclassified and outlawed as a machine gun.
Keeping this ban in place will keep our communities safe while still honoring the Constitution.
