John, like so many Americans, I know from experience that when you’re dealing with a family health care emergency, the last thing you need to be worrying about is the insurance bill or how you’re going to pay for it.
You see, when my daughter Lexi was only five, she had her tonsils removed.
I remember the doctor telling us that there was a small chance that she could begin bleeding profusely from the mouth (which is how children can die when having their tonsils removed), but not to worry, it wasn't gonna happen to our kid.
Well, it did happen.
I remember taking Lexi to the emergency room and standing there with her bleeding from the mouth when they told us they didn't have the staff and couldn't look after her right away.
We eventually went to the Children's Hospital and they took good care of her — and she was fine.
We were lucky to have quality care that night — and that I had quality health insurance so that we wouldn’t have to worry about medical bills. But unfortunately, that’s not the reality for millions of families across our country.
We are the richest nation in the world, and health care should be a right — not a privilege.
I’m running for U.S. Senate to fight for Medicare for All to ensure that every family can seek the care they need when they need it.
I need to know you’re with me in the fight to make sure every American has affordable, quality health care. Will you add your name to my petition so that when I make it to the Senate, I can count on your support to pass Medicare for All?
Thanks,
Adam
