John,
Texas’ extreme abortion ban is putting lives at risk. No one should have to petition a court to receive life-saving medical care. Today, I am thinking about Kate Cox and how our state's courts put her life in danger by denying her a medically necessary abortion.
This should have been between her, her family, and her doctor — not the courts and politicians. The denial of reproductive health rights held by Texas women for nearly 50 years is one of the most dire threats our state faces. Women should have the right to make decisions about their health without the interference of politicians.
Over the years, I’ve operated on women facing death from reproductive emergencies, and it's unacceptable any person would be denied life-saving care. I trust women to make their own healthcare decisions, and it’s unacceptable that Texas women no longer have the freedom to make their own reproductive choices.
As a doctor, I oppose any restrictions on healthcare, and as a member of Congress, I will defend the rights of Texas women to make decisions about their reproductive healthcare–including abortion. I ask you to join me in the fight for reproductive rights by making a donation to my campaign >>
