Dear Friend,
Through your generosity, Cultural Survival invests in Indigenous women. Will you help us meet the needs of our partners? ([link removed])
In October, support from donors like you helped us to carry out the First Meeting of Women Defenders of the Amazon Basin in Trinidad, Beni, Bolivia. Training in digital security and proposal writing, we gathered 15 Indigenous women land defenders from the Inga, Kamëtsá-Inga, Cayubaba, Kichwa Amazonia, Guarayo, Amorua-Sikuani, Mugeño, Itonama, and Chiquitano Peoples coming from across the Amazon.
Your support for Indigenous women is vital ([link removed]) for addressing historical injustices, promoting gender equality, and ensuring a more just and sustainable future. Indigenous women have always been the sources of creation and redistribution in their communities. Women typically reinvest 90% of their income back into their families, compared to just 35% by men. Invest in Indigenous women and in turn, uplift entire families and communities! ([link removed])

Your support empowers Indigenous Peoples and Communities ([link removed]) to exchange experiences, develop critical skills, and build networks of mutual support!
Sharing Experiences
The women shared experiences of territorial defense in their communities through drawings, songs, and plays. Through this activity, they discovered common strategies when confronting threats to their territories.
Strengthening capabilities in the area of digital security
At their request, the women received training on issues of digital security, learning about cyber and digital rights, and clarifying myths and truths of the digital world.
Building networks of mutual support
Given their multitude of roles as women and leaders in their families and communities, important space for recreation and relaxation was made, including time with nature and meditation.

“This gathering helps us reaffirm the importance of taking care of our Taita earth. It reminds us of the connection we have with our feminine being and the care we also need to have towards the territory of our bodies as we care for the territory of our land.”
– Muskuy Tisoy (Inga), Land Defender & Exchange Participant
Participants left with words of gratitude, encouragement, and inspiration to continue the fights rooted in and for their territories. They asked Cultural Survival for continued training on additional topics. But we don’t have enough funds to support all of their requests. ([link removed])
