Praise God for the completion of a series of trainings across Ghana in which we have been able to train police, prosecutors and the judiciary in best practices for protecting the most vulnerable from trafficking. As the team sets down their heavy workload to rest and celebrate Christmas, pray especially for those who have to report on a grant project that is coming to a close, that they would have strength and be able to complete the processes with excellence.
Latin America
Pray for a survivor of sexual violence in Bolivia whose legal case has been suspended for months. The survivor, abused at age 13 by her stepfather, faces delays while the aggressor, a member of a prominent political party with political and economic influence, remains free. The trial is stalled due to the lack of a permanent judge. Pray for the removal of obstacles in the Bolivian Public Justice System, enabling justice for the survivor and her family. Additionally, pray for the survivor's mom to secure stable employment soon.
South Asia
Pray for local survivor networks as they advocate with the government for their communities’ needs. These brave survivor leaders can have major impact when they unite and advocate for change. Pray that new doors would be open to them within the government, especially with major elections coming up next year. We are hoping the major political parties find ways to address human trafficking and rehabilitation in their party platforms.
Asia Pacific
Please pray for the ongoing safety of IJM teams as they travel to investigate cases of trafficking and locate suspects in our project areas. These trips often involve journeying to remote rural areas or dense and dangerous red-light districts. We feel confident in our security measures, but always need God to guide our teams’ steps and ensure IJM and our partners remain safe. Pray for great stamina and energy as the teams head out to do their work.
