Tell Legislators to Vote NO on ERA

As the 2024 Legislative Session approaches, progressives have been open about their plans to try and advance the so-called Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to your ballot in 2024.

This bill has already passed the Minnesota Senate and will be considered by the Minnesota House early next year.

Now is the time to send a message to your legislators telling them to oppose the ERA. The alert below will help you send a message to your Minnesota House member respectfully sharing your concerns.

By banning "discrimination" on the basis of "sexual orientation, gender identity or expression," the ERA would allow males to enter female-only accommodations such as sports teams and changing facilities.

So please, take action today by clicking the button below and stand up for Minnesota's women and girls!

Take Action - NO on ERA

Star Tribune: Counterpoint: Heed History's Warning in Aid in Dying

Via Star Tribune:

Legislative proposals to legalize physician-assisted suicide in Minnesota have been introduced in Minnesota every year since 2015. The bill contents change regularly as the authors try to stay ahead of the numerous legal, medical and ethical objections that are raised ("Whose decision at death's door," Nov. 12). Many of the changes just create new concerns. In whatever form, such legislation is dangerous and would likely have serious consequences for vulnerable populations — particularly those with disabilities.

People have a right both to receive and to refuse health care. Significant improvements have been made in our ability to manage pain, known as palliative care, which makes physician-assisted suicide unnecessary. In Oregon, where assisted suicide is legal, people choose assisted suicide primarily because they do not want to be dependent upon or a burden to others as they near the end of life. But what assisted suicide thereby teaches is a type of ableism, meaning that the lives of those who are dependent upon others for care lack quality and are not worthy to continue.

The haunting echoes of Hadamar, a chilling chapter in history, reverberate through time as a stark reminder of the perils in allowing societal judgments about what constitutes quality of life to dictate who lives and who dies. As we grapple with the complexities of the assisted suicide movement and the increasing influence of health maintenance organizations (HMOs), which make such judgments in their coverage decisions, we must ensure that the most vulnerable members of our society — those with disabilities — are not forsaken in the name of misguided ethics or economic considerations.

Comment from MFC: We're grateful to Senator Hoffman for boldly reaffirming his strong opposition to legalizing physician-assisted suicide (PAS).

Daily Signal: Boy Wins Girls' Irish Dancing Championships, Heads to Worlds

Via Daily Signal

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL: A teenage boy who identifies as a girl is heading to the Irish Dancing World Championships after placing first in the U14 2023 Southern Region Oireachtas competitions. Parents of girls competing in Irish dance are frustrated and outraged, saying that they cannot understand why a boy with physical advantages is allowed to dance against their daughters.

“Oh, my gosh. It’s going to make me cry,” said one mother, whose daughter danced in the same competition as the trans-identifying boy in the Dallas, Texas, event. “I never thought I was going to have to deal with this. And my heart breaks for my daughter and the other girls that are having to deal with this. They are too young to have to deal with topics that are going on in society, that are adult topics, that they don’t quite comprehend yet.”

“They just look at it as unfair,” she added emotionally. “And it’s really hard to explain to them what’s going on and why they have to accept it. That’s what society’s making them do. As a mom, I want to be an advocate for my daughter. But at the same time, I have to protect my family.”

The Daily Signal has chosen not to name or picture the boy who won the U14 dance competition since he is a minor. Dance results show that the child formerly competed as a boy and placed 11th in the world in the Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG) World Championships in April 2023.
