Hello, Friends —

On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 221-212 to continue an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This vote enables the House to investigate further the role Joe Biden played in the bribery and influence-peddling schemes of his family and associates.

Hours before the vote took place, Hunter Biden blew off a Republican-led deposition, instead holding a performative press conference outside the Capitol. In accordance with his wanton obstruction, House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan pledged to initiate contempt of Congress proceedings. Hunter Biden is not above the law.

The evidence collected against the Biden Crime Family speaks for itself. From bribes to a vast web of shell companies to wash the money, to pressuring federal law enforcement to protect them from their crimes, this has become a massive corruption ring. An impeachment inquiry is warranted, though insufficient to deal with the harm they have caused our great nation.

CONGRESSMAN GAETZ OPPOSES 2024 NDAA ON HOUSE FLOOR

Yesterday, I rose on the floor of the House of Representatives in opposition to the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Report. While I applaud the inclusion of a pay raise for our brave service members, I am profoundly disappointed with the way the final NDAA turned out overall.

In July, the House passed an NDAA that contained conservative reforms to end the "woke" ideology within the Department of Defense (DoD). However, nearly all these provisions were dropped from the "deal" negotiated by House and Senate leadership behind closed doors. The provisions in the House-passed NDAA to end the DoD's unlawful abortion-travel policy, prevent taxpayer-funded gender-transition surgeries, eliminate the position of Chief Diversity Officer at the DoD, and prohibit drag shows and drag-queen story hours were all left out of the final legislation. We must focus on combat readiness and strategic prowess — not on ideologies that divide us.

Additionally, the bill outrageously includes a reauthorization of section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which was set to expire at the end of the year, through April 19, 2024, effectively extending warrantless spying on Americans into April 2025. While FISA section 702 authorizes surveillance of foreign individuals, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has routinely abused it as an end-around the Fourth Amendment to search the communications of Americans without a warrant. It is crazy for Congress to pass a bill to ensure we can militarily confront China while, at the same time, including in it a policy that makes the United States more like the Chinese Communist Party.

REP. GAETZ: "THE MILITARY IS PUNISHING SERVICE MEMBERS FOR THEIR POLITICS"

On Wednesday, the House Armed Services Committee held a hearing on "Recruiting Shortfalls and Growing Mistrust." During the hearing, I questioned Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Air Force Alex Wagner on his claim that the military is not political. I made sure to ask Assistant Secretary Wagner about the situation that occured on Minot Air Force Base (AFB), where base leadership told service members that their military careers would be jeopardized if they attended a local event featuring a speaker from the conservative organization Turning Point Action.

The Assistant Secretary's statement that "our military is not political" runs afoul of the facts. When service members worry that exercising their constitutionally protected freedoms of speech and assembly will get them in trouble due to leadership's political bias, the result is a detrimental impact on our military. I will never stop my fight to ensure our service members are safe from persecution for their personal beliefs and values.

FIREBRAND EP. 139: UNCAGED FEAT. OWEN SHROYER

On Thursday's episode of Firebrand, I interviewed Infowars host and journalist Owen Shroyer on his experience as a political prisoner in the aftermath of January 6th. His newly found freedom is an enormous step toward justice for January 6th prisoners — but the job is not finished. It deeply troubles me that Americans are being forced to endure a two-tiered justice system, and it is incumbent upon the U.S. House of Representatives to do more.

TEAM GAETZ PRESENTS OKALOOSA STEMM ACADEMY WITH CONGRESSIONAL RECORD

Image

On Monday, my district staff presented the Okaloosa Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medical (STEMM) Academy with their Congressional Record, which recognizes them for achieving the remarkable milestone of recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. Okaloosa STEMM Academy is one of only 13 schools from the State of Florida to earn this distinction and one of only 353 nationwide in 2023. This achievement is a testament to the teachers’ and staff's commitment to student success and their pursuit of excellence.

I, along with all of Northwest Florida, thank Principal Scheree Martin, the teachers, administration, and staff at Okaloosa STEMM Academy for their hard work and dedication to their students, families, and this community.
