We've been keeping you apprised of efforts by pro-life Republicans to stop the Biden administration from unlawfully subsidizing abortions with taxpayer dollars through the military. Unfortunately, this week Congress voted to send President Biden a defense bill that failed to address this egregious abuse of power.

You'll recall that, following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, the Biden administration issued a policy that unilaterally funds travel for abortions for servicemembers and their dependents. This both violates the law and injects the abortion agenda into national defense policy. It violates long-standing agreement between Republican and Democrat administrations that the law protects taxpayers from having to pay for abortions, and it sets a new precedent for taxpayers to pay for the facilitation of abortion, by paying for military personnel travel and generous leave not available for other purposes.
Earlier this year, the House of Representatives passed its version of the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) with language rolling back the Pentagon's unlawful abortion policy. That language was stripped in the Senate-passed bill, and sadly this week the Senate and then the House passed the bill without that pro-life language.
Rest assured that we will continue to fight this unjust and anti-life policy on your behalf on Capitol Hill. Sixty percent of Americans, including 59% of Independents, oppose taxpayers being forced to pay for abortions.
