Dear John,
When Roe v. Wade was overturned, many of us warned that women would be forced to suffer and even die without the right to reproductive care. And now it has come to pass.
In Texas, Kate Cox was suffering from a medical condition that guaranteed that her fetus would not survive, but if she carried the nonviable pregnancy to term, her own health would be at risk, and she would become infertile. Despite the fetus being nonviable and Kate’s own health at risk, Texas refused to allow her an abortion, and she had to travel to another state.
And Kate Cox is not alone. There are far too many cases where pregnant women with dangerous medical conditions cannot get the care they need. These mothers are forced to suffer with painful conditions. What on earth is pro-life about that?
This issue is becoming more draconian by the minute. In Texas, doctors are threatened with life in prison for giving women the care that could save their lives. Over 20 state legislators in South Carolina supported a bill that would have a woman who has an abortion executed. In Missouri, there are efforts to charge women who have abortions and their abortion providers with homicide.
Can you chip in right now for an agenda that actually protects women’s health?

As Margaret Atwood, the author of The Handmaid’s Tale, said, at the time of the Dobbs decision, “I meant it as a warning, not as a handbook.” What is going on throughout the country right now, forcing women into the most horrifying situations, is a war on women. And it must stop.
For me, abortion is a moral issue. But it is a private, not a public one. I do not believe government has the right to tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body.
As President, I would do everything possible to codify a woman’s right to make her own reproductive and medical choices. I would put real pressure on Congress to codify the right to choose and to carve out a filibuster exception if need be. I would also verify the Equal Rights Amendment, which could be used in court to bring back Roe.
Please support me in becoming president, so women can have a true champion in the White House and we can actually codify reproductive rights, not just talk about it.
