John — did you see the Supreme Court news that was just announced?
The Court plans to hear a case arising in Texas which overturned the twenty-year-old approval of medication-based abortion by the FDA. Not only could a decision upholding this ruling affect millions of women across the country — including many in Maine — it would call into question the basic authority of the FDA to regulate drug manufacturing and sales for the benefit of patients everywhere.
Medications like mifepristone are the safest and most common form of abortion care. But if the Supreme Court upholds the lower court’s decision, this necessary medication would be banned nationwide — including in states with abortion protections like Maine.
Let’s make one thing clear: It should not be up to the government to decide what a woman does with her body or the incredibly personal decision whether to start a family. Partisan politics should have no say in a person’s reproductive decisions.
I won’t stop fighting to protect the fundamental rights of Maine people and people across this country, but I can’t do it alone.
If you’re able, can you rush a contribution to my re-election campaign to help me keep fighting for reproductive freedom for all?
