Dear Friend,
These are busy days on Capitol Hill.
Just yesterday, my new legislation to modernize the passport process by finalizing approvals faster than ever before was unanimously approved by the Foreign Affairs committee. As a result, the passport backlog will be eliminated, wait time reduced to 30 days or less, and a new range of online submission options will be available.
My bill in support of female veterans deployed alongside Special Operations Forces — the Jax Act — was also unanimously approved by the Veterans' Affairs Committee.
I also introduced two new bills in response to urgent local needs. In Poway, concerned citizens and local leaders joined me as I introduced the Stopping Sexually Violent Predators Act. In Temecula, we are taking on the unprecedented fentanyl crisis with Alexandra’s Law, the federal solution we need to help law enforcement turn the tide.
Additionally, in response to my pressure, Voice of America (VOA) reversed its internal guidelines that it claimed prevented its reporters from labeling the members of Hamas as “terrorists.” And, I began oversight on the Biden White House’s reported involvement, and then coverup, with CAIR, a group with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Finally, I voted to advance the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden's personal culture of corruption.
As always, it is a pleasure serving as your representative in Congress. For more information on constituent services, current legislation, and regular updates, please visit my website at www.issa.house.gov.
