Friend, Since I started in Congress, I’ve held 34 in-person town halls and 21 virtual town halls to hear from Iowans. On Monday, I'll be holding one more telephone town hall before 2023 comes to an end to answer your questions! I'm looking forward to sharing an update and hearing what's on your mind. To join the call, dial the number below and stay on the line to be connected. I hope to talk to you on Monday! Telephone Town Hall Monday, December 18th 7:00 pm CT Call: (833) 364-1469 Best, REAL Trucking Act Last week, I introduced the REAL Trucking Act, a commonsense solution to bolster the trucking workforce and strengthen our nation's supply chain, provide critical career opportunities for those not interested in pursuing a 4-year degree, and support family farmers, small businesses, and manufacturers by ensuring they can get their products to market. I spent Friday in Dubuque to meet with Iowans about this legislation. Read more about the bill here and check out details from our district stops below! McCoy Group Thanks to the team at McCoy Group for facilitating a conversation with trucking industry stakeholders about challenges facing the logistics industry, and giving me the opportunity to share more about the REAL Trucking Act that will help alleviate the trucker workforce shortage. Portzen Construction Last week, I met with Portzen Construction, a construction company that frequently works on interstate projects. Due to the truck driver shortage, they've had to downsize their fleet and turn away projects. My REAL Trucking Act will help alleviate this issue and address the trucker shortage. NICC Semi-Truck Driving Program Graduates from NICC’s semi-truck driving program learn the skills to get on the road and drive safely! My REAL Trucking Act will bring up the next generation of truck drivers and provide critical career opportunities for those who don’t want to pursue a 4-year degree. Standing up for Iowa Producers For years, China has worked its way to the top echelons of the United Nations, using their influence to advance the Chinese Communist Party’s agenda and undermine America. The most recent example: the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, led by a top CCP official, is calling on Americans to eat less meat. This is a thinly veiled attempt by China to undermine U.S. agriculture as well as the Iowa farmers who produce high-quality meat. China is the world’s worst polluter. The CCP doesn’t care about climate change or the environment, their intent is to undermine American agriculture. That’s why I introduced a resolution that officially disapproves of these recommendations and recognizes the importance of meat production to global food security and the U.S. economy. I will always stand up for our hardworking producers! Read more on our efforts here. Iowa Farm Bureau It was great to have the Iowa Farm Bureau in DC this week to discuss the importance of passing a strong Farm Bill. Iowa farmers work tirelessly to feed and fuel the world and I’m honored to be their voice in Congress. Journey to Success I enjoyed meeting with Journey to Success advocates to discuss ways we can best support those who grew up in, or are currently in, foster homes. Thank you for coming by the office this week to share your stories and perspectives.
