John,
Hi, it’s Jane Fonda.
As we bid farewell to 2023, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your support and dedication to the Jane Fonda Climate PAC. Your unwavering commitment to combating the climate crisis propelled our journey through a year of challenges and triumphs. In our second election cycle, we’ve grown our team and the power of our grassroots movement. Before we head into 2024, I wanted to share some reflections and key takeaways from this year with you.
I know that we could not have achieved everything we did this year without the generosity of our grassroots supporters. Will you help keep up the momentum for 2024 and beyond with a contribution today?
We elected climate champions up and down the ballot in key states across the country. In Virginia, 13 of our 14 endorsed candidates won their State House and Senate Races. As a result, Democrats regained control of the House of Delegates and retained control of the State Senate. We dealt a major blow to the corporate polluters who backed the GOP in Virginia and set the state back on its course toward a clean energy future.
We also took the fight to races for city councils, county supervisors, and school boards across the country. With your support, we got climate candidates over the finish line in Minnesota, Illinois, California, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Colorado.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all who contributed, volunteered, made phone calls, and invested their time to secure these victories. Because of you, millions more Americans have climate champions representing them at the state and local level, fighting to build a livable future for all of us.
We also helped organize the March to End Fossil Fuels in New York City, where more than 75,000 people from different walks of life took to the streets in New York and demanded President Biden and our elected leaders make it a priority to transition away from fossil fuels towards a clean energy future. This historic moment was only possible because of the hard work of coalition organizations, frontline leaders, impacted communities, and grassroots supporters like YOU.
As we head toward one of the biggest elections of our time, I’m excited to report that our team is growing! In July, we hired a full-time Executive Director, Sarah Lane, to guide the next phase of our work.
At our annual retreat, we laid out an ambitious plan for 2024 to launch a neighbor-to-neighbor field organizing program to help elect climate champions and take on Big Oil in my home state of California. We will be scaling up our operation, hiring more staff, and recruiting more volunteers to help us knock on doors, make phone calls, and get out the vote for our climate champions.
Please know that without you, none of this would have been possible. I am incredibly grateful for your support as we fight together to end the fossil fuel industry’s stranglehold on our politics.
Looking ahead, we have so much work to do. I hope I can count on you as we head into one of the most important elections for the future of our planet.
Before the end of the year, will you contribute $10 to keep up our grassroots momentum and start 2024 off strong?
