Oklahoma,

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an annual national security bill that allows Congress to meet its constitutional duty to provide for the common defense. The annual must-pass legislation ensures America’s warfighters and Oklahoma’s installations have the training, equipment, and resources they need to remain the greatest fighting force in the world.

I am glad to report that Congress has passed the Fiscal Year 2024 NDAA and that it has been sent to the president's desk to be signed into law. The Fiscal Year 2024 NDAA authorizes a topline of $886.3 billion for military and national security programs at the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Energy, including $152 million for Oklahoma’s military installations, plus another $122 million in funding for Oklahoma’s higher education aerospace programs and defense industry partners. Our five world-class installations are crucial to our nation’s military readiness, and this funding will provide the resources needed for their continued success. If this email was forwarded to you, you may subscribe to my e-newsletter here.

Humans and animals in the American Southwest are contracting Valley Fever through fungus that grows in the dirt and soil, costing the U.S. healthcare system $3.9 billion per year. This week, I introduced bipartisan legislation to encourage the prevention and treatment of Valley Fever and to improve care options for Western Oklahoma. Thanks to former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski for his support on this important cause!

Thanks to both Tricia Everest, Oklahoma Secretary of Public Safety (left) and Ellen Buettner, CEO of Oklahoma Health Care Authority (right) for stopping by my office this week. It's always the highlight of my week to meet with passionate constituents working to improve the lives of all Oklahomans.

Additionally, three pieces of legislation I have introduced to protect our healthcare infrastructure, coordinate patient care, and improve health outcomes passed out of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee this week with strong bipartisan support. It’s a privilege to represent Oklahoma on the Senate Armed Services Committee and bring home substantive wins for our five world-class military installations in the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

The NDAA includes massive investments for Oklahoma’s military and defense industry, secures a 5.2 percent pay increase for America’s warfighters, and strengthens U.S. defense capabilities to counter foreign threats like Communist China. The NDAA is a must-pass bill for our great state, and I’m proud of the work we did in our first year to get this significant bipartisan package across the finish line. Click here to read more.

I joined the Big Money Show on Fox Business to discuss the House launching a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden. Impeachment is one of Congress' most powerful tools, and it's imperative it is treated as such. Check it out here.

In my Weekly Wrap Up, I dove a bit deeper into the NDAA and what these substantive wins really mean for our state. Check it out here.
