Hey Friend,
Last night, New Yorkers came together to kick off our Livable New York campaign. We rallied at the Roosevelt Hotel – the main intake center for asylum seekers arriving in New York – to demand that our state’s elected leaders fund solutions that create affordable housing and union jobs while tackling climate chaos.
The climate crisis is driving thousands of families to migrate to New York – and as climate-fueled disasters increase, many more people are facing displacement here and abroad. Coupled with an affordable housing crisis, this is the moment to step up and fight against climate chaos.
But we’re not just fighting against climate chaos – we’re fighting for the New York we each deserve. Whether we were born here or arrived yesterday, a livable New York should be the bare minimum for our communities. That includes sustainable affordable housing built with good union jobs, and a livable climate.
Our movement can make this vision of New York a reality, but it’s going to take constant pressure on our elected leaders to tax the ultra-wealthy and fund this major investment in transitioning off of fossil fuels and building new affordable housing.
Will you stand with us and take the next step to fight for a livable New York by signing our Livable New York petition? Add your name here.
Your voice in this fight matters, Friend, and together we’re going to win a more equitable, livable New York for everyone who calls this place home.
Thank you for standing with us,
NY Communities for Change
