On Wednesday, every House Republican voted to formally begin the process to impeach President Biden in an unfounded, cynical political move devoid of evidence or cause.1 This illegitimate impeachment inquiry is the ultimate political stunt designed to discredit President Biden and reelect Donald Trump.

Republican Representative Troy Nehls even said it himself when asked what he's hoping to gain from an impeachment inquiry: "All I can say is Donald J. Trump 2024, baby."2

Impeaching President Biden is part of the GOP’s insidious strategy to distract voters from their own failing party, vilify Biden, and pave the way for Trump to reenter the White House in 2024.

And if this calculated strategy sounds petty, it’s because it is. Extreme MAGA Republicans are pushing this sham impeachment to get revenge for Trump’s impeachment after the whole world watched as he directed the January 6 insurrection from the sidelines.3 Now, the rest of the House Republicans are going along with it. The GOP continues to put their power, party, and corporate interests over us. They’ve wasted time and our taxpayer dollars on their bogus investigation and a year later have absolutely nothing to show for it. They are more focused on Trump's bidding to take down President Biden than enacting real change to make the country a better place and improve the lives of everyday Americans.

And House Republicans have admitted that there is “no evidence” that Biden committed any wrongdoings following their investigation, yet every single one of them still voted to begin the process to impeach him.4 It's wrong, but not surprising. This is why we have to come together to stop them.

The House GOP is not even trying to hide what their real intentions are.
