John, the
New York Times just stated that women could face a disproportionate risk of exposure to the coronavirus because of the professions and roles we play in daily life. Women make up 80% of the service care industry and women are more likely to play the role of caretaker at home. Women also make up well over half of our public school teachers, a profession which is now grappling with temporary closures and adapting to remote learning experiences.
Tens of thousands of nurses and teachers that make up the AFT will continue to be on the frontlines of this pandemic. Hear from them directly on Monday.
We look forward to staying connected with you!
