As we near 2024, here is why Pennsylvania should be at the top of your radar, John:
First: In 2022, our first full year of operations on the ground, NPP collected 20,000 voter registration forms, helped flip Pennsylvania's State House for the first time in over a decade, and helped expand our U.S. Senate majority in the tight races in Pennsylvania.
Then: Our team worked tirelessly in two special elections earlier this year to ensure Democrats maintained control of the PA House Speaker’s gavel. Then, we immediately hit the ground again for the General Election, knocking on more than 18,000 doors, sending 14,000 text messages to potential voters, and making 26,000 phone calls in support of Judge McCaffery, helping to secure his win.
Now: As CBS News wrote, “There is no question that Pennsylvania will remain an important swing state for both parties” during the 2024 elections.
In 2024, the ENTIRE PA House and half the PA Senate will be on the ballot, not to mention races for U.S. Congress and, of course, president. A lot will be going down in PA, making it one of the most critical states in the nation.
But here’s the thing:
The presidential primary election in PA will take place in April. That means we only have a few months to mobilize and persuade the Democratic electorate to turn out to vote. While fundraising across the ecosystem is down, we cannot afford to wait until September or October to raise money to register and engage voters. That work has to start NOW.
