Why%20Statements%20-%20YEG23.png

Everyone deserves access to nourishing food that allows them to lead healthy lives. Our programs work to:

        • Increase access to SNAP (food stamp) benefits
        • Support local food networks
        • Connect people with vital food resources
        • Advocate and educate the public and policymakers about responsible solutions that prevent people from going hungry

We are committed to continuing this work, and we cannot do it alone! Donate today to further our programs that over 500,000 Philadelphians rely on.

POLICY & ADVOCACY

Friday%20Email%20Graphics%20(28).png

Public Charge Rule: One year ago the Biden Administration's Public Charge Rule, confirmed that eligible immigrant families can access SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children), Medical Assistance (MA), and housing assistance without negative repercussions to their immigration status. This rule replaced the previous, more restrictive rule.

It is important that all members of our community know that receiving SNAP, WIC, MA, and housing benefits will not be considered in a public charge determination. And remember, our SNAP Hotline (215-430-0556) is always here to help you navigate the benefits process!

Barriers to SNAP: Our partners at Just Harvest are conducting a survey on the barriers that people face when they apply for and access their SNAP benefits. Sharing your voice and story in this survey can help to improve the SNAP experience for all eligible participants in PA. Thanks for using your voice to improve SNAP in PA! Complete the survey in:

Our Newest VIP!

Our Victory In Partnership (VIP) Program connects food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community food programs within Philadelphia so they can coordinate resources and information. Participating organizations come together for workshops, tours, and other programming to help them fight hunger in their communities. Members are also offered support in attaining funding, food resources, and organizational skills.

We are excited to announce that ZIA has joined our VIP program, and we look forward to working with them to help build a more food secure Philadelphia region!
