Legislative Update from Rep. Ben Bakeberg

Dear Friends,

Thank you to everyone who attended Constituent Day this week! It was great being able to show people from our community around our beautiful Capitol. We even got to tour the House floor (pictured left)! If you are ever in St. Paul and would like a tour, please don?t hesitate to let me know.

I am very proud of my brother, Scott (pictured right), who testified before the Working Group on Youth Interventions this week. Scott is the CEO of Village Ranch and Village Ranch Child and Family Services which helps young people in the juvenile correctional system. You can watch his testimony here. It?s so great getting the whole family involved at the Capitol!

If you have ever been to the State Capitol complex, things are now looking very different as construction recently began on the $730 million renovation and expansion of the State Office Building. Remember: Democrats raised taxes by $10 billion last session when we had a $17.5 billion surplus. Instead of returning the surplus to you in the form of permanent, meaningful tax relief, they went on a spending spree which included a three-quarters of a billion palace for politicians.
