2023 Year in Review
We passed laws

Our Legislation Committee and Power Hour Crew helped pass the All-Electric Building Act making New York the first state to ban fossil fuels in new buildings

Our Plastic Free Committee and Power Hour Crew got passed NYC’s "Skip the Stuff” bill, prohibiting restaurants from providing single-use plastics in delivery and take out unless specifically requested by the customer

Our City Action Committee and Power Hour Crew advocated and passed Universal Residential Composting, bringing curbside compost collection to every household in NYC
We pushed our Brooklyn electeds on climate

We made 20 lobby visits to local Brookyln Assembly Members and State Senators (a whopping 10% of all the visits NY Renews member orgs made state-wide!)

We participated in 6 statewide call relays, 2 Albany visits, and supported 2 local NYC rallies, including marshaling

Our Power Hour Crew made hundreds of calls, written testimony, emails and comments
We engaged the community and mobilized people

Our People vs. Fossil Fuels workgroup helped mobilize attendance of 120 members at the historic March to End Fossil Fuels in Manhattan on September 17th, which was attended by 75,000 people.

We held 6 “Beat the Heat” tabling events throughout Brooklyn, providing Brooklynites with information on how to cope with record temps

Climate Check: Stories and Solutions, our monthly podcast, produced another 12 cuttting-edge podcasts on topics ranging from sustainable farming to plastic waste to teaching climate justice

350Brooklyn's Climate Ideas Exchange presented panels and events at the Brooklyn Public Library from Parenting in the Age of Climate Change to Sustainable Finance

We hosted 12 all-member monthly meetings on topics spanning War and Climate to Fixing the BQE: Climate Progress or Peril?
