Is Micheál Martin getting ready to back late-term abortion on request? (http://)
Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin
Tánaiste Micheál Martin told the Dáil yesterday that he's "very open" to giving "very serious consideration" to the recommendations contained in the report of the three-year review of the abortion law.

The recommendations the Fianna Fáil leader is “very open” to considering include: legalising late-term abortion on request; suppressing freedom of conscience protections for healthcare workers, thereby forcing them to assist in abortions in violation of their conscience; scrapping the three-day wait before an abortion (even though the author of the report Marie O’Shea admitted she made her recommendation without ever speaking to any of women who went for their first abortion appointment but didn't proceed with the abortion after the three-day waiting period had elapsed).

It looks like Micheál Martin is embarking on another abortion “journey”, similar to the one he went on prior to the 2018 abortion referendum - a journey that very conveniently ended with him singing the inch-perfect tune the media wanted him to deliver. It may have benefited his own short-term political fortunes but it has very likely done irreparable damage to the Fianna Fáil party he leads.

In the Dáil yesterday, while making it known how open he is to the recommendations contained in the three-year review, the Fianna Fáil leader threw in the following proviso:

“We can’t dismiss the fact that we put certain arguments before the people at a given time, not so long ago, and people voted on the basis of those arguments.”

“That said, the review was also contained within the [Termination of Pregnancy] Act,” he added. “We’ve had the review now and we will act on the review and Government will give that active consideration.”

It seems that Micheál Martin never passes up an opportunity to ingratiate himself with the pro-abortion movement. Meanwhile, he's completely silent about Ireland’s soaring abortion rate (that he promised wouldn't happen if people voted for Repeal) and he avoids comment and never displays any unease regarding truly horrifying cases that have occurred under the new law, like the cases where babies that survived the abortion procedure have been left in the corners of Irish hospitals to die alone and unaided, without any loving care or support.

Does Micheál Martin speak for the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party and party members when he makes pronouncements on abortion and when he chooses to remain silent about the horrors happening under the new law? Has he been given carte blanche to decide party policy on abortion?

Voters are entitled to an answer before they go to the polls in 2024.
Major boost for 'Abortion Pill Reversal' based on latest research (http://)

Amrita Kaur and daughter Ahri-Storm at the March for Life in Dublin last May. Ahri-Storm was saved from abortion after Amrita sought help after taking the first of two abortion pills. 'Abortion Pill Reversal' treatment is something Amrita promotes today and that we all need to do more to encourage.

Findings published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research show that there are "no clinically significant adverse events" associated with Abortion Pill Reversal, the treatment sought by women who change their mind after taking the abortion pill and wish to continue the pregnancy.

The results of the research carried out by academics based at two Australian universities contradict the evidence-free claims of pro-abortion campaigners who have sought to undermine the treatment at every opportunity, including lodging a complaint against Irish medic Dr Dermot Kearney with the UK’s General Medical Council that was subsequently dismissed.

In their heroic work, Dr Kearney and his colleagues continue to save unborn babies from certain death by assisting mothers who regret taking the abortion pill and seek help to undo its effects.

The authors of the latest study say their research establishes "a clinically sound protocol" for examining the use of progesterone after mifepristone (Abortion Pill Reversal) and that their pilot supports the need for larger trials to be carried out.

The study "Progesterone after mifepristone: A pilot prospective single arm clinical trial for women who have changed their mind after commencing medical abortion" was designed as a prospective single-arm pilot clinical trial, conducted via telehealth. Women aged 18 to 45 years in Australia who reported ingesting mifepristone within the last 72 h to initiate medical abortion and had not taken misoprostol were included. Initial contact was by a web-based form. Following informed consent, participants were prescribed oral progesterone to be taken 400 mg twice per day for 3 days then 400 mg at night until completion of a 19 day course. Pregnancy viability was assessed by ultrasound scan after 14 days of progesterone treatment.

Two cases underway related to adverse effects linked to abortion (http://)
Unborn child in the womb
In reply to a parliamentary question on 13th December, the Minister for Health has confirmed that there are currently two ongoing personal injury cases linked to the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018.

The State Claims Agency confirmed it has “two ongoing claims from persons alleging that their unborn baby was wrongfully diagnosed with a condition sufficient to bring them within the scope of the Health Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy Act 2018.”

These two cases presumably do not include the Baby Christopher case. That case involved a perfectly healthy baby who was misdiagnosed with a life limiting condition and was then aborted in a late-term abortion in Holles Street hospital. The parents of the aborted baby subsequently took a case.

This new information reveals that the tragic Baby Christopher case was not a once off and that even more Irish babies have been misdiagnosed and aborted in Irish hospitals.

Humanity Campaign - Action Alert! (http://)

It’s a really important time to approach your local TDs and Senators and urge them to reintroduce some humanity into the debate on abortion. The Three-Year Review, a seriously flawed process which produced a one-sided and extreme report, will be considered by politicians in the autumn. It’s important that we take action now.

We have produced a quick and easy Virtual Postcard for you to sign, which will automatically send an email to your local TDs. Use the button below to navigate into your county on our website and find your constituency.

It’s also important to have meetings with your TDs. These can be as simple as dropping into your local TD’s advice clinic to outline your concerns. Click below to register to lobby your local TDs. Don’t worry – we’ll help you every step of the way with advice on making the appointment to points you might consider raising.

We are heartened by the number of people actively involved and interested in meeting their politicians to express their views. The People Before Profit Bill which regrettably passed at 2nd stage of the Dáil on 31st May must also be countered. Even the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, has said this Bill goes far beyond the recommendations of the Three-Year Review – which are already extreme in their own right.

It is crucial to engage with our politicians and remind them not to overlook the referendum promises. We need to fight to ensure our abortion policy is aimed at reducing the abortion rate.

Please take a moment to get involved in the
Humanity Campaign ([link removed]) . Remember even the smallest effort will make a big difference.

Thank you!

Do you have pro-life material which could be historically relevant? (http://)
We are putting out a call for anyone in possession of any documents, photographs, correspondence, etc. relevant to the Irish pro-life movement throughout the decades. We are particularly keen to receive anything in your possession related to periods such as the 1983 referendum. A comprehensive history of the pro-life movement is yet to be written, but the historians of the future will need primary sources. We are asking for people to get in touch with the Pro Life Campaign (mailto:[email protected]) if they possess such material (no matter how old or dusty!) to ensure it is preserved now and not lost to the ages.
