Team, I wanted to keep you updated on our work in Congress to respond to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, the House passed a relief bill to help families struggling with the economic repercussions of the crisis, as well as expand access to critical health care.

As a member of the Bipartisan Congressional Coronavirus Task Force, I am fighting hard to ensure working families get the relief and stability they need to weather this crisis safely.

I’m proud to say that the bill includes two weeks of paid sick leave and up to three months of family and medical leave for those affected by the crisis, as well as free COVID-19 testing for all, enhanced unemployment benefits, and additional funds for food assistance and Medicaid.

We put families first and passed the urgent and necessary legislation to ensure our communities are kept safe from the coronavirus crisis. Now, this bill heads to the Senate for a vote.

The COVID-19 crisis will indubitably affect millions of Americans over the next few weeks and months. Now, more than ever, the Senate MUST listen to the needs of the American people and pass this bill!

If you’d like to take action, please urge the Senate to act immediately to pass this legislation.

I am also working to ensure the critical work of the 2020 Census is not disrupted. This week, I led members of the New York delegation in a letter asking Secretary Commerce Wilbur Ross to extend the data-gathering period to September for the 2020 Census due to social disruption caused by COVID-19.

Stay safe,

-- Yvette
