Hi there,

As I've been working in the Senate to combat the spread of coronavirus, I've also been talking to many Michiganders about their concerns and what they can do to help. It's been truly heartening to see the number of people asking me how they can support their fellow Americans during this time, so I wanted to reach out to you today about one way we can work together.

Over the coming weeks, many people in Michigan and across the nation will be working from home, but so many others aren't afforded the same opportunity - they'll have to make the difficult decision to miss out on a paycheck or risk getting sick. And with schools closed to slow the spread of the virus, many children who rely on free or subsidized school lunches have suddenly lost their primary source of healthy food.

So today, I'm not asking you to make a donation to our campaign. Instead, I want to encourage you to support the Michigan families who are struggling with food insecurity during the coronavirus outbreak.

I'm raising money today for the community food banks in the Michigan Food Bank Council (check out the list below), and it would mean the world to me if you would join me and chip in whatever you can to support the already vulnerable Michigan families who will be affected by the coronavirus crisis the most.

In the meantime, I encourage you to follow the CDC guidelines to clean and disinfect your surroundings, wash your hands more frequently than ever and avoid contact with those who are sick.

And in the Senate, I'll continue working for financial assistance solutions so people who are forced to stay home from work due to coronavirus don't have to choose between putting food on their table or paying their bills. And I'll continue advocating for more free testing and making emergency federal funds and FEMA resources available to state and local governments.

Thank you, and please stay safe.

Gary
