Hi Revealer,

I’m writing today with some exciting news that I wanted you to hear directly from me. The Center for Investigative Reporting and Mother Jones are merging into a single powerful nonprofit news organization.

With our combined resources, we will be melding into a true multiplatform newsroom that will reach communities large and small across the nation. I know that at this moment, trustworthy fact-based journalism is crucial for our democracy. This merger will ensure that our work will continue to grow and reach even more people.

We remain committed to covering the same issue areas that you expect from us–democracy, justice, climate, civil rights. What changes is our ability to reach more people and have even more impact. A journalist working in our combined newsroom will be able to publish an investigation on any platform where people get their news, with a digital story that will reach millions of readers, a radio episode airing on stations covering more than 98% of the country, a print magazine, a podcast, and multiple newsletters, video platforms, and social channels.

The most important thing for you to know now is that we’re becoming a stronger, more sustainable news organization. We will keep broadcasting the Reveal radio show and podcast nationwide with its deeply-reported, investigative audio stories; CIR Studios will keep producing award-winning documentary films, drawing from a wider array of stories in a bigger newsroom brimming with some of the field’s best journalists; and we’ll keep publishing Mother Jones magazine and website at motherjones.com ([link removed]) .
