Dear Friend,

The latest event from Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF), “Behind the Headlines: Victims of Newsroom Raids in Marion and Tampa Tell Their Stories,” is now available on demand in the events archive ([link removed]) .

A police raid of the Marion County Record ([link removed]) in Kansas made national headlines in August. But you may not know that the FBI raided the home newsroom ([link removed]) of another journalist in Florida in May. Are journalists being raided just for doing their jobs?

Seth Stern, FPF’s director of advocacy, welcomes Marion County Record editor and owner Eric Meyer and independent journalist Tim Burke as they update us on each of these troubling incidents, and discuss what’s next in the fight to defend and foster a courageous press.

This is the latest event hosted by FPF, and joins several webinars that you can now watch on demand in the events archive ([link removed]) . Feel free to share a Digital Security 101 ([link removed]) webinar with a loved one, send your school the discussion on Digital Security Education for Journalism Schools ([link removed]) , or rewatch the training for Defense Against the Doxx Arts ([link removed]) yourself.

The events archive also examines FPF’s many important programs, such as the U.S. Press Freedom Tracker ([link removed]) , SecureDrop ([link removed]) , and Dangerzone. ([link removed]) It also includes our initial Behind the Headlines event recorded in May, with the Asheville Blade journalists updating us ([link removed]) on their legal fight following their Christmas arrests in 2021.

There is a lot of information there, and we’re here if you need any assistance with your own digital security training or want to know more about FPF’s work in general.

Thank you, and we appreciate your support as we continue to fight together to protect press freedom.

In solidarity,

Ryan Rice
Membership Coordinator

P.S. Help us continue to advocate for small newsrooms and independent journalists and make a donation before December 31st ([link removed]) , during our $150,000 match gift campaign!
